Build of the MESS libretro core (approximately version 0.156) for Raspberry PI 2. Works on RetroPie 3.0.

Since February 28, 2016, mess_libretro.so can be compiled via the RetroPie script. This build is hosted here in case it provides better performance on the PI2.

If you want to be able to launch ColecoVision games without having the full and strict MESS folder structure, you have to check your /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-coreoptions.cfg file. The following options must be set exactly as this:

mess_softlists_enable = "disabled"
mess_softlists_auto_media = "disabled"
mess_media_type = "cart"
mess_boot_from_cli = "enabled"

Run example on RetroPie:

Shell script allowing to run a ColcoVision game from EmulationStation, can be adapted for other systems:

#!/bin/bash
GAME="$1"
DIR=`dirname "$GAME"`

/opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch  --config /opt/retropie/configs/coleco/retroarch.cfg -L /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-mess/mess_libretro.so "coleco -rompath \"$DIR\" -cart \"$GAME\"" 2>/dev/null >/dev/null
